Them vs. You vs. Me

co·ex·ist   [koh-ig-zist] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation

–verb (used without object)

1. to exist together or at the same time.
2. to exist separately or independently but peaceably, often while remaining rivals or adversaries: “Although their ideologies differ greatly, the two great powers must coexist.”

Can humans coexist if the basis of what they believe in or practice is different?  It seems that the fabric of what humanity is based on is conflict.  Conflict in the sense of playing chess.  If I make a move, regardless to how strategic it is, at some point someone has to lose a piece.  The objective of the game is to dominate.

In order for me to live in the air you breath, can I push my position on you?  Should I? If I don’t will it affect my outcome? If I do will it affect yours? If the truth, is the TRUTH……Who or what defines it?  Is your truth different from my TRUTH.

One morning I left out for work and I saw a large Crow with a small baby bird in his mouth.  I had mix emotions, initially I thought damn it was a little funny, then I felt a little bad for the little bird, but that was a profound moment for me (coupled with my existing thought pattern).  It made me ask myself if the theory, “Kill or be killed,” actually held merit for who we are as humans.  Someone has to be on the bottom right? Not everyone can be on top…can they?

Lets stop being lazy. Think about it. Rationally.

Immigrants arriving at Ellis Island

Immigration will come back up in this last leg of the race for president.  Its interesting that some people are against letting immigrants into our country.  If you are not Apple Pie American, you already get treated funny anyway, but to down right say we need to stop immigrants from entering our country is really funny.  Aren’t…..we all….immigrants? Last time I checked we all came to this land in a boat.  Some willingly, some un-willingly. Interestingly enough, that could be up for debate. Anyway - Sidebar.

I whole-heartedly believe in process and that anyone that wants to be in America, should go through that process.  But please lets make sure our eyes are open.  If people are coming in unlawfully, then there is a faulty process in place.  Oops, our fault, right? Something we have done wrong shouldn’t be a platform to deny people in to this country.

All I am saying is that our Statue of Liberty says:

“Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breath free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!’

If we don’t mean it, lets take that shit down.

Lights out

Your politics stink…

4 Jun 2008 In: My Life, Politics

I have heard people utter non-sense. People are saying that since their candidate is not in the race or may not be leading their parties’ campaign, that they will not vote in November. Are you serious? Do you make your life decisions like that? So you have two options and because you don’t like those options, you don’t make a choice? Is that the buffoonery I hear?

I think a person who has a clue, looks at their options, and makes the best decisions with those options…I hope you have a clue.

How Deep?

4 Jun 2008 In: My Life

How deep is your commitment? How deep is your love? How deep is your thought process? Are you top layer? Are you a surface termite? Do you try to learn how to fish or do you beg for fish?

What are you chasing? Is it happiness with your family and friends? Does finances determine your happiness? Can you chase both wealth and happiness? Does one run away when you are chasing the other? Is there a prerequisite? Do you need money to be happy or do you need happiness to get money?

If you haven’t ask yourself these questions, you haven’t cracked the surface of who you are. To be continued……..

Everyone is seeking refuge at the edge of the earth

but with Tsunami’s and typhoons…I seek inland

inward that is, to define the depth of my oceans floor

see I have a score to settle

not to meddle with the laws of the land

but I seek knowledge!

I have not taken the bar exam because I can’t change God’s laws.

I am just a man wanting to see the light

although sunrises and sunsets have endless beauty

the rain follows me

making what I know that is a promising life- seem bleek

I am sure I reek of God’s essence because I am in the image of Him

although, the rain still follows

And to this date I continue to weather the storm

and desire a positive outcome with my fate.

Just a mere mortal

Well I just realized I need to find out what planet I am from, because I just found out the planet I am on is filled with egotistical superheros who are always on time, never miss a beat, rise to the occasion in every stride, and leap buildings at a single bound.  Me, hmm, I am just human.  I have genius moments, but I also make mistakes and miss the mark.  I am just me -  a guy who is seeking comfort with the planet that I am on.

If they’re Third World, who is first?

5 May 2008 In: My Life, People

I was listening to a song today and that question was posed in it.  I was like damn, thats a good question.  Citizens of Third World countries are labeled as if they are not of this world. Classism at its finest! Unfortunately sometimes, human nature will not let us justify a segment of people, events, or anything we see visually without putting it in a box.  You and I are guilty of it.  And thats fine really.  However, once we start treating people we classify inhumanely, is when its wrong.

If Cambodia is “Third World,” does that make the U.S. the first?  Is that really so? Naw, only “One World” has been revealed to us. I am glad that term “Third World” has been nearly abolished.

my time is a terrible thing to waste

30 Apr 2008 In: My Life

My new focus is to make sure I do not waste time.  Because starting today, I am not going to let other people waste my time.  So if you feel I am being a little mean.  Don’t feel that way.  Cause I am letting you know now. Please…..do not……waste my time.

Moving Rocks to Make a Pyramid

When am I am actually going to posting my photos? I really don’t know why its been so hard for me to post them. I need to get nimble. It seems moving pebbles has been as hard as moving bolders.

About this blog

This is my commentary - written word, about my life and those who are in it, as I see it. I am just a man seeking the beautiful things in life and savoring those things with the special people that make it all worth it. I am a amateur philosopher, photographer, and pretty much amateur in anything with "pher" at the end. :)
