Ok I know I said I wasn’t going to post anything else on the election. But I thought these pictures were so compelling, showing the emotion of the moment. This is really cool and I wonder has any other President been so transparent like this. To show his personal moments like this. He looks more human than any president I have ever seen or studied. People say JFK was the same way. Its super cool. I originally saw this on Necole Bitchie’s blog and more can be found here.

HOPE
This is my last post about elections this year. I just want to share my sentiments.

You either voted with Barack Obama or John McCain. Your vote was monumental regardless who won. What I am noticing after we have the results is that people are either extremely happy or extremely upset. I feel what we fail to realize is that, whatever beliefs you have, they should not rest on one man. If you are a stark conservative, your conservative views can still be represented in this democratic country. At any point they can not, that is when we should check ourselves. The same goes to the most liberal person out there. The point I am trying to make is that please check your hateful sentiments if you have them, because those feelings may be more harmful to yourself and others, than any candidate winning or not winning the office.

I have had conversations with extremely close people to me. There have been shouting matches and large debates. However at the end of the day, we love each other, and respect each other for standing on our ideals. THAT….is what America is about. This country was founded on Christian principle - yes, founded on self-responsibility - yes, and it was also founded on FREEDOM. Freedom to believe, to have faith, to work, to create, to dream - as big as you want to dream. So along with the Judeo Christian ethics that this country was founded on, it was also founded on FREEDOM. Freedom of thought, faith, and to have these elements wrapped up in liberty and justice. We MUST recognize ALL the things this country was founded on. And not pick and choose what we hold close to us individually.

We all have CHOICE. Please respect each other’s choice. Despite what you feel about another man or woman’s choice, you have to respect that for that individual. Thats a humane mandate. Because if its not…. radical conflict will hugely exist. We can’t say we are walking in love or peace and then dictate when or whether that applies.

Should black people be happy. Hell yeah. Never before has it either been possible or have Americans have had the choice of a Black President. When looking at the history of this country and blacks part in that, there have been long strides. And thats something to be happy about. FOR ALL AMERICANS. (IF YOU HAVE LITTLE KNOWLEDGE OF BLACK AMERICAN HISTORY, PLEASE VISIT THE LINKS BELOW, IT IS A MUST BECAUSE ITS AMERICAN HISTORY)

As a friend of mine said:

I find myself making decisions based on my feelings all of the time….sometimes its positive, other times not. However, I treat all results as learning experiences. I believe that everything happens for a reason and sometimes we may not be clear as to what they are but if we learn to face our challenges and conquer them, it only can make us stronger.

Please watch this very intelligent video from Colin Powell on his careful choice he made and more importantly, how America needed to evolve. I love you regardless to who you voted for.

Do you buy Organic Food?

23 Oct 2008 In: My Life

I need your help. I am doing research on organic foods. Could you please take 5 seconds out of your day to fill out this quick, one answer, survey?

Your answer could save the world!! (Smile)

Its not only the passion that Gary Vee evokes, but its the content of what he is saying.  Its baffling how so many large corporations still see enormous value in spending millions on TV.  Its remarkable how dumb marketers are.  In some respect you have to play in the large media space, but be smart.  If your company is falling, how do you validate still being the largest marketer (largest spender) in the world.  There are too many people that don’t want to challenge their little brains or spend a little extra time AWAY from their boat in the summer to see how impactful social media and experiential marketing is and how it engages their consumer. My two cents to follow Gary’s.

People are watching politics! Its awesome! There were 63 million people watching the second presidential debacle that they called a debate.  I love Tom Brokaw, but for some reason he led a unorganized debate.  Not that it was his fault but the process they arranged was broken and over thought.  Had that debate been three hours instead of a hour and a half, honestly, people would have watched.  At least they would have gotten their points out on their positions, which is hard for a politician in a short period of time.

Which brings me to a great point…..can they? Can they give you their absolute plans? We elect these people in office to serve us and make the decisions for the masses.  Thats an interesting statement….These people are elected to serve us……and make the decisions for the masses.  That means everyone.  Your vote counts for you, but they have to make decisions for another 264 million.  With that complex of a job, can you create a plan that everyone will happy with.  Well, you will try with the majority, and thats why you campaign to persuade people to see it your way.  After Tuesday’s debate, you got your normal response - that it was not enough definitiveness.  In a time where gas prices went up nearly over night (at least from an historical standpoint), banks are falling by the wayside at a moments notice- can you really give a definitive plan. Yes I agree with forecasting and forethought, however you never want “that” guy. That guy that says - “READ MY LIPS, NO NEW TAXES!” Thats definitive and not smart because you never know what the future brings.

We need these guys to propose a plan, but how definitive can you get, when the world is in a whirlwind GLOBALLY.  I understand.  Do you? I think their philosophy’s are greatly documented in different forms.  We need to just go off of that and the principles they stand for and thats it.  Its no need to argue with your best friend and look down on them because they choose a different candidate. Why?  What makes your ideals better than theirs.  I am a semi conservative.  Thats about as far as I can go honestly with the labels. I am not registered anything.  I am pro-life, I support marriage for one woman and one man. However, I think people with Gay lifestyles can live their life and have committed relationships.  People get so caught up in telling other people what they can and cannot do.  That freedom is what we fought for in the American Revolution. Now -  I don’t feel laws should change for small groups based on lifestyles.  I think laws should only change for the majority- of all nationalities and races.

I will vote for Barack Obama.  Should I be penalized for that, no.  Thats my choice.  Just like everyone has a choice to do what they want to do.  I will vote for the best man for the job.  I will not be clouded.  I have principles, I will always stand on my principles personally, but just because someone does not campaign for the same principles you have doesn’t make them not fit for the job. Barack did not institute Roe vs. Wade.  In this dynamic world today, you can not make decisions without looking at all angles.  And I think some Christians and some conservatives, are clouded in decision making, when it comes to politics.  I will not be any less Christian for voting for Barack.  All I can do is pray for him and McCain (whoever makes it in to office) to make the best decision for us all - black, white, puerto rican, mexican, gay, and straight.  Anybody I left out, well……I am sorry.  And thats my politics and bullsh*t!

XDR-TB, Be Aware

Hey I just wanted to share this, doing my part to spread the awareness of this new form of tuberculosis.  Having awareness should not equate to having fear, its just the first step to solving a problem. Pictures courtesy of well-renowned photographer, James Nachtwey, who has shot for Time and other big publications. Of course also courtesy of XDRTB.org. Remember the world is more than what you see everyday.

See….people care!

Somehow this never got posted. It was just sitting in the cave of my drafts…. Well here you go! Originally written on July 25, 2008.

Its funny when I hear people say that white people can not empathize with racism. They just can’t understand.  Well obviously this lady understood.

About this blog

This is my commentary - written word, about my life and those who are in it, as I see it. I am just a man seeking the beautiful things in life and savoring those things with the special people that make it all worth it. I am a amateur philosopher, photographer, and pretty much amateur in anything with "pher" at the end. :)
